NUAA Approved to Accept the Chinese Government

 Scholarship International Students

The Chinese Government Scholarship is a useful supplement to the existing policy of recruiting international students. It is an important measure for China to attract more international excellent students. It has a very far-reaching impact to enroll government scholarship students in enhancing China's diplomatic influence and international reputation.
     On August 30, 5 experts invited by Ministry of Education, visited NUAA to inspect the education management and conditions for international students. On September 16 an official document from the Ministry of Education was issued that Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics formally joined the universities in 'Chinese government scholarship program'.
     NUAA’s joining 'the Chinese Government Scholarship Program' indicates that NUAA has participated in the family to recruit international students sponsored by Chinese government. It is a large upgrade of NUAA’s comprehensive strength, level and status. It makes the work of international students to a higher standard; therefore, it has a very significant and far-reaching effect in promoting NUAA’s international cooperation and exchange.
     Background information: Chinese Government has established a series of scholarship programs to fund the interested students and scholars around the world to study and engage in research activities in Chinese universities and research institutes for the purpose of promoting the mutual understanding and friendship between Chinese people and peoples in the world, developing the exchanges and cooperation between China and the other countries in education, science and technology, culture, economic and trade, etc.
     Ministry of Education of China is responsible for offering Chinese government scholarships. It entrusts China Scholarship Council in charge of enrollment and routine management of international students of Chinese government scholarships.
     Students with access to Chinese Government Scholarship will be assigned to universities designated by Ministry of Education. Chinese Government Scholarship is divided into full scholarship and partial scholarship.
     In 2008, the number of foreign students of Chinese Government Scholarship who study in China has reached 13516. It for the first time realized the goal that the number of scholarship students was above ten thousand. It had an increase of 159.37% compared with 5211 in 1999. It is known that Chinese government will gradually increase the capital investment in the next few years. It will make a substantial increase in quota for the foreign students of Chinese government scholarships. It is expected in 2013 that the number of sponsored international students with China Scholarship will double on the current base.
