College of Civil Aviation was established with the joint efforts taken by the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and the Aviation Industries of China in September 1993. It has been managed by the Board of Directors which consists of twenty-seven enterprises and organizations, including CAAC and the airlines directly under CAAC, some local airlines, regional civil aviation administrations, three big international airports, Aviation Industries of China, and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. The college has now established a pattern of graduate education, undergraduate education and on-the-job training and has become an important basis of teaching and scientific research for CAAC. It has three departments: Department of Civil Aviation Engineering; Department of Air Traffic and Department of Traffic and Transportation.

Programs for Bachelor Degree
1. Traffic and Transportation: It aims at training advanced engineering and technical talents to do design and research, to develop new products and to do maintenance and management in electronics, information processing, mechanics and electronics, business, management, computer communication in the fields of electronic engineering, telecommunication, information engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering and civil aviation traffic and transportation management. The branches of the study are as follows:
1). Civil Aviation Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
2). Air Traffic Control and Flight Dispatch
3). Air Traffic Information Engineering
4). Air Traffic and Transportation Management and E-Commerce

Programs for Master Degree
1. Vehicle Operation Engineering: The main concerns of the program are in the study of the theories and techniques of operation quality, security guarantee and the monitoring of flight vehicles. The system of making the good use and management of flight vehicles is an important prerequisite for traffic and transportation safety, less cost and high efficiency.
2. : Transportation Planning and Management: The main concern of the program is in the study of the theories and techniques of planning and decision making of air traffic and transportation system. Efforts are made to plan air transportation, to make a comprehensive evaluation, to manage air transportation system and its operation in a scientific way and to make a good use of transportation resources so that the management of air transportation can be modernized.
3. : Traffic Information Engineering and Control: The main concern of the program is in the study of the basic theory of railway, highway, waterway and air transportation
information collection, conveying, processing and control and also in the study of the
application of electronics, telecommunication, information and control techniques in
air transportation.
